Allegorical art illustrates the underlying truths related to the possible origins of the French Revolution, along with the ramifications that occur when rulers and societies forsake ethical standards in their chase for indulgence, authority, and aspirations. This type of art was indeed rendered in small engraved plate format for a French publication titled "Cent Deux Figures Galantes Pour Illustrer Les Memoires De Casanova by Jules Adolphe Chauvet (1828 -1906)

Art history provides a broader interpretation of how our contemporary society mirrors past events, including issues like human trafficking, corruption, political hierarchy, prostitution, disrespect for the lower class, LGBTQ rights, and anti-Christian sentiments, to name just a few. In the 1800s, much of the erotic art collection of engravings by Chauvet was sold merely for entertainment. A few years ago, an antique collector from Europe gifted a collection of original engravings to artist Marvin Wright. Initially, these were dismissed as mere smut. However, upon re-evaluation, this art began to reflect the issues of our current times. The decision to create gallery-sized oil paintings was made, as the engravings were too small to convey the full message of Chauvet's artwork.
Why must the creation of large gallery-sized oil paintings adhere to the same techniques used by the old master artists of the past, rather than being simply generated by AI, software, or other modern methods?
The response lies in acknowledging history, and it poses a challenge to determine if art can be created in the same manner as glazing, where the light refraction through the original oil paint enhances the traditional radiance of a masterpiece. Such oil paintings elevate the value of the artwork in comparison to late contemporary art produced in the 21st century.
